Renowned photographer and city artist

Mario Giacomelli is one of the most famous and important citizen (1925-2000): photographer for interior need and never for career, he really didn’t like living far from his town. Giacomelli travelled rarely, so that almost all his photos were taken between Senigallia and the nearby hills. It’s not easy, to describe in a few words the greatness of this man, the beauty of his work and the importance he still continues having in the international art reviews. His works are very important for the great innovation he brought in photography with his immagines full of style and poetry.

In 1963 the famous Museum of Modern Art in New York bought some of his pictures and this made him celebrated around the world.

The Museum of Modern Art in Senigallia has his name. Here it is easy to establish a deep contact with the work of the master, apprecieting the beauty of his landscapes, the contrast between black and white, the poetry and humanity of portraits, the personal research, human suffering.
